It feels like descending into the abyss and listening to all the mumblings and screams of the demons that dwell there. A haunting atmosphere, so devilish and wicked, with the most peculiar and obscure sounds. No surprise, in fact, since each track's title is a reference to Japanese gloomy fables, sinister supernatural beings or places. A fantastic discovery!

A unique LP full of snow-blind lo-fi black metal, washed-out production wobbles, plangent dungeon synth, blackened kosmiche atmospherics, lurching / see-sawing cosmic sea-sickness, sound installation clangs and hums and even components of 70's Italian Library Music weave its way through parts of this eclectic LP. A varied pastiche of emotionally resonant music that s one of the most creative 'black metal' records I have ever heard! Absolutely fantastic.

Je ne sais pas exactement comment traduire le titre Flying Ointment. Ma première hypothèse, c'est "Pommade qui donne la faculté de voler" et elle fait sens parce que le synthé a un rôle plus important ici et, malgré quelques phases cauchemardesques, les ambiances sont mystiques et libératrices. Mais, sachant que Old Nick prend un malin plaisir à rendre ce remède inaccessible, caché derrière un raw black metal technique (practitioner arrache tout !), il s'agit peut-être d'une "Pommade volante"...
